Business Redirection

4 August, 2008 (15:04) | company | By: Shibu Gope

This past week we spend our time going over the variables on which our business GetYourMeal.com was based on.  As our Marketing to restaurants kicks in this week, we are faced with the questions whether restaurants will buy our crowd sourced delivery model as it is a huge cultural change in how food is delivered to customers today.

Not knowing the unknowns is a huge challenge that entrepreneurs faces all the time.  So, we decided to play it safe by enabling only the ordering functionality on our system initially and gradually introducing to the market our innovative delivery model.  What this means that we open business this November as a Beta site with only a handful of restaurants enabled for online ordering and delivery by Restaurants directly to the customer.

Once we are positioned strategically in the Charlotte market, we will revisit our decision to enable the crowdsourced delivery model on a Restaurant to restaurant basis.

What are your thoughts?  Let us know…

We worked with various designers before and I being very finicky about design never liked any of our logos submitted.  Recently I learned about 99design.com and crowdspring.com and then posted our logo contest last week.  Now, this is the true power of crowd sourcing.  39 Designers from around the world submitted their designs based on our logo description and today we finally made a selection of our winning logo out of 94 designs.

Here you can check out all the logos submitted.

Below is our chosen logo.

20 July, 2008 (11:31) | company | By: Shibu Gope

Last week, we had a presentation to the investors of Vencorps.  This was a good exercise for me to learn a few tools to make a podcast and slides merged into Slidecast.  Please have a look and let me know what you think

My wife’s first blog

18 July, 2008 (12:20) | Personal | By: Shibu Gope

I have been busy working these days and my wife, Salomi has to undergo the punishment to watch me working all the time.  Last night, I had to prepare for a VC presentation for today morning.  I told her I will be coming late, I have to get this presentation right.  It is very important to me.  She prefers to stay with me till I finish my work and so there she goes, sitting behind me writing something on her notebook.

I asked her what are you upto?  why don’t you go to sleep?  She replied “I am writing my first blog, Would you like to read it?”  I promised her to read it today morning.  As soon as my presentation was over, I read her first blog and it touched me.  Below is her first blog talking about me:

Fri, July 18 2008, 2:48am: I am still awake waiting for my hubby to finish his work, he have a presentation tomorrow morning at 9:00am & I am watching him working like crazy.  He is sleepless, Is he feeling tired? I made him coffee, he had a cup & working as if it’s a normal day for him.  He doesn’t look tired or stressed out, hmm…my man love what he is doing, he is focused and sure-footed at what he is doing.  He knows he will not slip from his goal, he have big dreams, but he also know how to work on his dreams to make it true.  Sometimes I feel left out lonely when my husband is in work & not with me all the time, but I fight with myself and make myself understand that life is not a fairytale dream.  And I should let a man do what he wants and support him mentally and emotionally.  He is dedicated towards whatever he does, and I am dedicated to him.  Changes in life is inevitable but in the end of the day when he smiles and talks about his work progress that makes me the happiest person on the earth.

Evolution of an entrepreneur

8 July, 2008 (23:03) | Personal | By: Shibu Gope

I just came back from my short summer vacation and on the flight I had nothing better to do but to ponder how have I changed from my usually boring life to a person who always like to be out of his comfort zone.

It has been 9 months on my entrepreneurship (yeah right, the baby is not delivered yet!)  and looking back to how I was last year, I was able to summarize what I lost and what I have gained.

What have I lost?

  • time with my wife
  • sleep
  • Some hairs
  • few vacations

What have I gain?

  • weight
  • confidence
  • public speech
  • politics
  • Art of begging
  • Polished resume that is an envy to my peers

Is it worth it?

Of course yes, it has to be, it better be.

Signing off…

Business Coaching…101

30 June, 2008 (23:05) | Personal | By: Shibu Gope

I have been recently invited to coach a team how to jumpstart a business and leverage the use of internet effectively.  I am honored by the invite and told the sponsor that I am on day 2 on my own business and I may not be a good coach.

He answered, “You know more than you think you know”.  It went straight to my heart.  I feel that at least it will give me an opportunity to network with other aspiring entrepreneurs.

So, I am taking up yet another challenge to provide business coaching.  to that extent, I request you blog readers (I know I am new in the blogosphere, besides my beautful wife, no one reads my blog) to coach me or provide tips where I can learn more.

Hello there…

What is GetYourMeal.com?

It is a website/platform/service for restaurants to showcase their menu and have them delivered using a network of members. We use location data to group orders together to maximize the earning potential for members. This result in low cost delivery option for consumers.

That’s it?

For now, yes.  We will talk again soon. Meanwhile you can drop any comment.  anything, really.  Maybe you can say who are you, where are you from and what are you looking for?

I will make a promise to write one post every week.  So, if you feel like, just subscribe to our blog’s feed.
